Hometown: Bedford, NH | Disciplines: Gravel, Mountain Bike, Road Bike, Fat Biking | Experience: 25 Years
I have spent the last 25 years on two wheels, tackling everything from New Hampshire and Vermont trails to grueling endurance events across the globe. Whether I am riding gravel, crushing singletrack on a mountain bike, putting in miles on the road, or fat biking through the winter, I thrive on the physical challenge and the community that comes with it. At 60 years old, my love for endurance and recovery is backed by years of consistent training and resilience.
Riding is not just about the miles; it is about purpose. For the past eight years, I have ridden in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) with Team Flames, raising awareness of Pancreatic Cancer Treatments and critical funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of my late wife, Christine. I also co-founded the Pedal for Prevention Gravel Ride in Vermont, an event benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that brings the cycling community together to spark conversation, connection, and hope around mental health awareness. My dedication to these causes pushes me to ride harder, pace smarter, and take on monumental challenges.
Major Accomplishments
- Maine to Key West Solo Ride (28 Days): In May 2025, I completed a self-supported, self-funded 2,319.4-mile solo ride down the East Coast. Over 28 days, I climbed 71,102 feet and rode through 13 states, raising over $20,000 for pancreatic cancer research. I completed the journey without a single flat tire.
- Pan-Mass Challenge (8-Time Rider): A veteran of the iconic two-day, 200-mile ride across Massachusetts. In my 2026 PMC, I demonstrated elite pacing and recovery, maintaining 93% of my Day 1 weighted power (112W to 104W) on Day 2, and hitting a peak sprint power of nearly 800 watts.
- The Rift (Iceland): Conquered the dark lava fields and rugged highlands of Iceland in one of the world’s hardest gravel races, navigating river crossings and volcanic terrain, and glaciers on the tectonic split between North America and Eurasia.
- Vermont Overland (6-Time Rider): Tackled this legendary 55-mile gravel race featuring 7,000 feet of climbing and eight brutal sectors of unmaintained Class-6 roads in Vermont.
- Pavo Madness: Competed in this challenging cycling event in Reading, VT, testing speed and endurance on some truly crazy river beds and pond crossings.
- Muddy Onion Gravel Race (6-Time Finisher): Six years and counting at this beloved Montpelier, VT gravel race, a staple of the New England gravel calendar.
- RanchCamp Leaf Blower Gravel Ride (3-Time Rider): Three years taking on this fan-favorite Vermont gravel ride hosted by Ranch Camp, a true celebration of fall riding in the Green Mountains.
- VMBT Woolly Fatbike Ride (4-Time Rider): Four winters in on this Vermont fatbike classic, proving that the riding season never really ends.
- Pedal for Prevention Gravel Ride (Co-Founder): Helped start this annual Vermont gravel ride based out of Frost Beer Works in Hinesburg, VT, benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The event brings riders of all levels together on Vermont’s scenic backroads to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.
- Many More: A full calendar of organized rides throughout the year keeps the wheels turning and the community growing.
Why I Ride
I ride to test my limits, explore the unknown, and honor the people and causes that matter most. Every pedal stroke is a step toward finding a cure, raising awareness, and proving what the human body and spirit can achieve. See you out on the trails.
